WAHALA

Fair play

How stake parks work, who carries the pot, when fare comes back, and the limits that keep Wahala a party game.

Free parks and stake parks

Free parks cost nothing and take up to twelve players. Stake parks are optional. They have four seats, and everybody in the park puts the same fare. Nobody is ever put into a stake park without choosing it.

Where the fare goes

Who carries the pot

Wahala is a team game, but Lagos Life pays one winner, so the server picks the winner in two steps:

  1. The winning side. Drivers win when every stop is done or every agbero is dropped. Agberos win when they take over the park or a critical wahala runs out of time.
  2. The best player on that side. Points for the round: 1 for each stop done, 2 for each vote that helped drop an agbero, 1 for staying alive to the end, 1 for each breakdown reported, and 2 for each knock. The highest score carries the pot.

A tie is broken by the round's random seed, set before the round starts, so nobody can steer it. The result is signed by our server and sent to Lagos Life. No phone can decide or change it.

When everybody's fare comes back

Leave a stake park before it starts and your fare comes back. Leave after the round starts and your fare stays in the pot.

Limits

Cheating and collusion

The server decides every knock, stop, vote and win. Your phone only sends what you do. We watch stake parks for win-trading and throwing (the same players meeting again and again, one-sided results, quick quits), keep a replay of every round, and suspend players from stake parks or from Wahala when we find it.

Coins are not money

Coins are earned by playing (today: 10 for finishing a round, 25 more for winning, 1 per stop, up to 500 a day) and spent only on roof loads and windshield slogans. Coins can't be bought, can't be used as fare, and never cash out.

Play for fun

Wahala is a party game first. Only put fare you are happy to lose, take breaks, and stick to free parks whenever you like: they are the same game.
